The Arabic Network Issues the Third Booklet of the Guide in Publication Cases

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information ,announced today issuing the third booklet of the guide in publishing cases “How to Defend yourself” which ANHRI provided to the journalists and bloggers .the booklet’s size is small to carry it in pocket at any time, any place. This series presents a definition of the crimes of publishing legal material which were included , the sanctions and how to deal with it legally, so that writer , journalist or blogger can be fully aware of them ,and do not fall into legal errors without intention or knowledge which may lead to prosecuting him in accordance with the Egyptian law . the third issue entitled “3 – Prohibition of publication.”

Prohibition of publication issues ,considered of great importance for journalists , bloggers and writers as they form a great danger to them and press freedom in Egypt .committing the crime of violating a prohibition of publication threaten them with penalties of imprisonment from six months to five years and a fine of one hundred pounds to 10 thousand pounds.

This 48-pages booklet issued by ANHRI’s Legal Aid Unit for Freedom of Expression, explains the meaning of banning publishing and the related legal materials in the Egyptian penal code and press ,and explains the scope of ban deployment and the cases which constitute a violation. The booklet explains to the journalist how to defend himself in case he is accused of committing a crime , to clarify who has the right to file the lawsuit , proceed with it and the other legal information related to it.
It is noteworthy that The Arabic Network has issued two former issues of the series, the first one was entitled “1 – Insult and libel” and the second “2 – False News and Rumors” .You can get them from the headquarters of ANHRI, and can be downloaded in “pdf ” format from the web site.
The third guide “Prohibition of Publication” is available in hard copies , to journalists, writers and bloggers at the headquarter of ANHRI ,downtown. As well ,it will be available in “pdf” format on the web site to make it easier to copy and print for all the interested..
